Master Teacher vocalist LUA HADAR has performed and studied world jazz, musical theatre, opera, cabaret, and French chanson. She speaks and can instruct in four languages. She is a credentialed teacher
with a B.A. in Theatre, an M.A. in Education, with studies at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, Dalcroze School of Music and in the Metropolitan Opera's master classes for young singers. A lifelong performing and teaching artist with a passion for cultural exchange, she has taught, studied or performed in France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Thailand, Japan, Bali, Canada and the United States.

Lua has served as a coach, director and producer and MC for cabaret shows, live recording concerts, variety evenings and educational seminars in the United States and abroad. She has a great ability to communicate across cultures and work with artists of all ages and all skill levels, encouraging each one to stretch his or her skills and take the risks that result in growth and change. Her experience and knowledge ranges from the artistic to the technical, so the big picture is always in view.

LUA HADAR is a credentialed K-8 bilingual teacher and a multi-faceted performing artist, teaching artist and teacher trainer, with an M.A. in Education and a B.A. in Theatre.

Lua has taught student classes in creative drama, storytelling, puppetry, mask-making, acting, diction and public speaking, singing and video production, addressing the State Visual-Performing Arts Standards and core curriculum standards. 

As Resident Performer and co-producer of international tours for a professional Italian theatre-for-youth company, Lua played over 500 performances of works for children, touring Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, and the USA. In this capacity, she performed for thousands of children from pre-school through middle school, and delivered residencies in Creative Drama and Puppet-Making, using Italian as a language of instruction.

From 1993-2003, Lua created and coordinated award-winning school wide arts-in-education programs at John Gill Elementary School and at Garfield Charter School in Redwood City, leading teams of artist-teachers to collaborate with classroom teachers and students to create over 50 original productions. In collaboration with Italian colleagues at the Centro Culturale Teatro Camuno in Breno, Italy, Lua developed a bilingual version of their original ecology musical, Lattafogia (Tin Can Paper) which was presented at California State University in Fresno in 2001.

She has been recognized by the United States Congress and by the California Legislature and has presented at conferences, including the Haki International Children’s Art Festival in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2002.

Lua is an active advocate for arts education in public schools and has been serving on the San Francisco Unified School District Arts Education Master Plan Advisory Committee and as an Executive Committee member of the
Arts Providers Alliance of San Francisco.
